Material : Taffeta and Sateen Fabrics

Plissé explores how folded geometry can shape garments that echo the body’s landscape. Inspired by architectural folding, I experimented with taffeta and sateen—soft yet strong fabrics that crease beautifully. Using heat and pressure, I pleated textiles between origami molds, baking them in a convection oven and flash-cooling to set the folds. The results revealed surprising structural qualities: self-supporting curves, crisp edges, and fluid motion. By adjusting the angles and patterns, I discovered how pleats can flex, expand, and conform to the body’s natural topography.
