Bio
Moti Tavassoli is a Persian-American artist based in Los Angeles. With a background in architecture and industrial design, she has a passion for designing instances of visual and tactile quality that evoke spiritual and emotional experiences. Her artwork in painting, sculpture and installation is no different.
Having grown up in Tehran and LA, Moti belongs to both and neither. Two wildly different cultures, two vast metropolitan cities with infinite ways to feel rootless, she finds safety and belonging in nature. Her work, filled with botanical motifs, are stories of places where borders dissolve, natural laws bend, and the material world becomes fluid and symbolic.
She is an alum of the Ellsworth Artist Residency with Art Share LA. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York, and featured in art fairs in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Her paintings live in private collections across Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Tucson.
