Artist Bio
Moti Tavassoli is a Persian-American artist and designer based in Los Angeles. Having grown up in Tehran and LA, Moti belongs to both and neither. This suspension between two places and identities propels her to explores nature which has been a space of emotional safety and exploratory play since childhood. Her abstract multimedia paintings and sculptures often pull visual inspiration from Persian miniature paintings and natural landscapes of Los Angeles.
She is currently working on two bodies of work, one celebrating the beauties of nature as an embodiment of heaven and the other studying the hidden yet dynamic world of plants both as a ways to calm her environmental anxiety.
Moti has exhibited in group exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York and was a Ellsworth Artist Residency participant. She holds a bachelor of Architecture from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. Her paintings live in private collections across Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Tucson.
